Fitness reimbursement is increased to SEK 2,000 per year

HEALTH In order to stimulate physical activity and health in times of working from home, the Vice –Chancellor has decided to increase the size of the fitness reimbursement for employees.

Umeå University offers a fitness reimbursement to all employees in order to create good habits for improved health, as well as preventing illness, sick leave and work-related injuries.

The fitness reimbursement was introduced in 2018, at the rate of SEK 1,800 per year. Employees on a fixed-term contract receive a fitness reimbursement in proportion to the length of employment.

Applied retroactively from 1 January

Based on the present situation with covid-19 and instructions to work from home as the default option, the Vice-Chancellor has decided to increase the size of the fitness reimbursement.

The new amount applies from 1 January 2020 onward. Apart from the monetary adjustment the rule regarding fitness reimbursements at Umeå University stands unaltered.

Can be requested and received at any stage of the year

Employees who have already accumulated SEK 2,000 in fitness reimbursement claims are encouraged to request compensation for 2020 right away, instead of waiting until the end of the year. You can receive reimbursement on two occasions per year.

Employees who have submitted a claim for the previous, lower amount of reimbursement with reciepts worth more than SEK 1,800 will be automatically compensated up to SEK 2,000.

For employees who have previously submitted a claim with reciepts worth less than the maximum amount, no extra payments will be made until another receipt is submitted.
