All strategic investment activities are up and running

24 August 2023

When the University Board convened on 23 August, a follow-up of the University's SEK 315 million strategic investment in research and education was presented. The general assessment is that all activities are up and running and that the use of funding has increased.

Follow-up indicates that activities are in different stages of implementation. This depends partly on when the Vice-Chancellor reached the decision on funding. Another reason is that several activities have required recruitment of further staff. The Vice-Chancellor has decided on measures to improve conditions for activities in which spending has been low, which has also resulted in the need to reallocate funding.

"I'm pleased that all activities have started and it's nice to see what incredible breadth the activities cover, all with the aim to strengthen research and education. In the interim reporting, coordinators have emphasised the added benefits to the University that have become possible through the funding, which there has otherwise been no room for in the regular budget," says Per Ragnarsson, Deputy University Director.

The most recent report provides an overview of what took place within the scope of the investment until 30 April 2023. The University Board established that the investment will continue to be followed up every four months, which coincides with the Board meetings in February, June and October.

The investment is based on the University's vision and takes place in eight fields chosen in consultation with the faculties and other parts of the organisation. The investment is funded by the University's agency capital and runs between 2021 and 2025.
