Torgny and Lena Stigbrand’s prize at Umeå University – nomination open

On 16 Februari this year, the Vice-Chancellor decided to establish the Torgny and Lena Stigbrand prize at Umeå University. The prize of SEK 100,000 will be awarded at Umeå University's annual celebration for a period of three years, for the first time in 2024 and the last time in 2026.

The prize is awarded to a researcher or teacher at Umeå University who has made outstanding contributions to the promotion of scientific research and development in any of the fields of immunology, cell and molecular biology or microbiology.

All staff at Umeå University are invited to nominate individuals for the Torgny and Lena Stigbrand prize via this link (form in Swedish).

Along with the nomination, there should be a justification for why the nominated person is considered suitable as a recipient of the prize (max one A4 page). A short CV should be included with the justification. The deadline for submitting a nomination is 26 April, 2024.

The laureate is selected by a special committee appointed by the deans of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Technology in accordance with the Vice-Chancellor's decision. The prize cannot be shared and the committee's decision on the winner cannot be appealed.
