Team med två eller flera forskare inbjuds att lämna in nya tvärvetenskapliga projektförslag i denna utlysning, för att hjälpa till att starta projekt som drar nytta av samarbete mellan discipliner och metoder.
Tre projekt kommer att få tillgång till finansiering för ett 2-årigt postdoktorstipendium. Dessa gemensamma postdoktorer, under handledning av tvärvetenskapliga team av forskare som spänner över institutioner vid Umeå universitet eller SLU möjliggör nya samarbeten att växa från en idé till konkret ny forskning.
The Integrated Science Lab, IceLab, stödjer de framgångsrika projektteamen längs deras tvärvetenskapliga resa genom att vara värd för utvalda postdoktorer i IceLabs tvärvetenskapliga forskningsnav, delta i alla aktiviteter och daglig kontakt med IceLab-forskare. IceLab-medlemmar utforskar det okända territoriet mellan traditionella discipliner och integrerar regelbundet teoretiskt, beräkningsmässigt och empiriskt arbete. Dessutom blir det handledande projektteamet för en postdoktor i IceLab i sin tur IceLab-anslutna.
IceLab erbjuder möjligheter för samarbetsgnistor att tändas vid evenemang som Lunchpitches. Upp till tre pitcher kan presentera en idé och möta potentiella samarbetspartners i uppföljande diskussioner under lunchpitchen. Det finns fortfarande möjligheter att ge en lunchpitch i vår och höst, för de som är intresserade av att börja på vägen från idé, till gnista, till ett finansierat delat projekt.

IceLab bjuder in till ett informationsmöte om den aktuella tvärvetenskapliga postdoktorprojektutlysningen den 26 april kl 13:30, i KBC Glasburen eller genom Zoom .
Under detta möte kommer projekturvalsprocessen att förklaras och forskare som är intresserade av att hitta en partner att lämna in ett projektförslag med kommer att erbjudas möjligheten att pitcha sina idéer. Anmäl dig i förväg om du är intresserad av att delta.
Deadline för att lämna in projektförslag är den 26 maj 2022.

How do interconnected networks of cells emerge during wood formation?
In this project, the postdoctoral fellow will 3-D image analysis of growing live wood cells to better understand the mechanism of wood formation at the cellular level.

Bacterial cell wall systems biology
In this project, chemical profiling data from bacterial cell walls had been carried out and data needed to be analysed to identify cell wall synthesis pathways with strong implications for the development of antimicrobial therapies. Experiments will follow to confirm candidates inferred.

Predicting the co-evolutionary trajectories of simple microbial communities
This project aims to use genome-scale metabolic networks to answer questions about the evolutionary relationships between competitive and cooperative interactions and their underlying metabolic mechanisms.

Identifying cost-effective public health strategies for long-term control of COVID-19 in Sweden
This project is about using models to identifying control strategies of COVID-19 that can be sustained for longer time period without impeding the economy too much.

New targets for future antimicrobials
This project is about exploring bacterial gene products critical for bacteria to maintain infection in humans. Such products particularly those involved in stress responses can be explored as targets for new antimicrobials.

Climate effect on the inland carbon cycle
This is about studying carbon fluxes of a whole network of Nordic inland waters with the ambition to be able to predict the effects on carbon cycling by climate change.
