Local collective agreement between Umeå University and Saco-S

On 2 February Umeå University and Saco reached a collective agreement for salary revision for a three-year period, from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2023.

The collective agreement includes three periods for salary revision: October 1 2020, June 1, 2021 and October 1, 2022. It includes all Saco members, with exception for doctoral candidates and amanuensis.

Negotiations for new salaries for doctoral candidates, amanuensis as well as other local salary agreements have been started. More information about these will be sent out as soon as agreements have been reached.

Negotiations between Umeå University and the trade unions OFR/S and Seko are ongoing. More information will follow regarding employees without a trade union membership, and employees who are members of trade unions other than Saco-S, OFR/S or Seko.

First revision period: 1 October 2020 to 31 May 2021

For the first period, 1 October 2020 – 31 May 2021, a general wage increase of 1,9% will be paid out to all Saco members in February or March 2021, retroactively from 1 October 2020. Professors in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities will receive a general wage increase of 2,1 percent.

Managers should offer appointments for salary discussion or salary-setting discussions to all Saco members so that discussions can take place before 23 February. The discussion should focus on the employee's work performance from 1 October 2019 to 30 september 2020.

Second revision period: 1 June 2021 to 30 september 2022

During the second salary revision period that starts June 1, 2021, individual accomplishment will be taken into account, as stipulated in Saco's central collective agreement for salary revision. Individual accomplishment during the period from 1 October 2019 to 31 May 2021 will be taken into account.

The local collective agreement stipulates that the financial space for wage increases will be at least 2,2% of the aggregated salary level, to be allocated in the individual salary negotiations.

Salary discussion and salary negotiations will take place during the autumn of 2021; new salaries will be in effect from June 1, 2021 and be paid out retroactively from that date before the end of 2021.

Third revision period: 1 October 2022 to 30 september 2023

The third period for salary revision covers the period from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023. This will include individual salary revisions and does not include a specified financial space for wage increases.
