How the faculty's teachers influence the choice of vice-chancellor

12 teachers from the Faculty of Science and Technology will have their say when Umeå University recruits a new vice-chancellor. They are part of the Consultative Assembly, which has its first meeting on 15 March.

The new Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University will take office on 1 July, 2025, and the recruitment process has already begun. The task of the Consultative Assembly is to advise the University Board on the proposal for a new vice-chancellor and pro-vice-chancellor.

The Consultative Assembly consists of 45 teachers, 22 students and 22 other staff and trade union representatives from different parts of the university. Professor Richard Bindler of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science chairs the Assembly. Another 11 teachers from the Faculty of Science and Technology are also part of the Assembly. See the full list of representatives here.

The convenor of the Faculty's part of the Assembly is Karolina Broman, the Faculty's Associate Dean for Education. The Consultative Assembly has its first inaugural meeting on 15 March.
