Create an account and log in Go to http://zoom.umu.se/ Choose "Sign in with SSO" and login with your Umu-id. (If you login with a private account you can only host meetings that are 40 minutes long.)
Joining a meeting

Click the link you received in the invitation. The invitation should also state who is hosting the meeting and time of the meeting.

First time using Zoom? See above.

Start a new meeting You can start a new meeting both via the Zoom software you have downloaded onto your computer or by logging in to zoom.umu.se > My account > Meetings
Invite participants You can invite participants via a link or directly from your Zoom room. The link to the meeting can be sent in an email or published in a learning platform. If you login with your Umu-id you can host a meeting with up to 300 participants.
Learn to navigate a Zoom meeting Once you have joined a Zoom meeting you can adjust your audio and video settings, chat, share documents and files, share screens, etc.
Record my meeting and publish it You can record a meeting, save it to your computer and upload it to your learning platform via UmU Play.
Reuse the same link to several Zoom meetings You can choose to always use the same address when you host a meeting. This is handy if you want to publish the same link to all students even if they are participating at different times.
Managing my participants As a host (which is most often the person who invited to the meeting) or a co-host, you access more controls than what the participants have.
You can, for instance, give someone the right to speak if they raise their hand.
Create groups (Breakout rooms) You can divide your participants into groups during an ongoing meeting, for instance for discussions in "beehives".
Show a PowerPoint presentation You can share a PowerPoint presentation using "share screen".
Show a whiteboard You can share a whiteboard using "share screen" in order to draw or sketch something together with your participants.
Create interactivity through a poll Zoom has a built-in polling feature. If you cannot see this in your meeting, you may need to activate the function under "Meeting settings".
Host a meeting/seminar for more than 300 participants

You can order the additional services Large meeting or Webinar for up to 500 partipants via Servicedesk.

A Large meeting works like a regular Zoom meeting while a Webinar limits the access for the participating spectators.

Invite a guest teacher

Please note that an Umu-id is required for full access to Zoom.  We recommend that teachers without an Umu-id is affiliated to Umeå university. That way they will have an Umu-id and full access to Zoom.

Guest teachers can teach in Zoom without being the host of the meeting. However guest teachers do not have full access to the meeting functions. The guest can share their screen, talk and be seen just as all the other participants. A person with an Umu-id schedules the meeting and invites the guest to the meeting with a link. The guest can click on the link and act as a regular participant in together with the students.

It is important that the creator of the meeting activates the function "join before host". The creator of the meeting cannot host two meetings scheduled at the same time.

Instruction about why you cannot host two meetings at the same time

For students to host and start meetings Zoom is accessible for everyone with a Umu-id. This also means that students can start and invite to meetings in the same way as teachers. This is useful for group work, for instance. The student who creates the link is responsible for sharing it with other participants and is automatically "host" of the meeting.
