Strategic Council for Research and Doctoral Education (FOSTRA)

The council initiates and coordinates university-wide discussions regarding Umeå University's research strategy. FOSTRA also supports the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the University's research strategy as well as its education strategy where it is relevant for research. 

The council consists of 
• one chair and one vice-chair: two members from University Management with responsibility for research and doctoral education
• one member from each of the four faculties and one from the Umeå School of Education. These should be responsible for research questions in their respective faculty management.
• two-three students, of which at least one should be a doctoral student
