Application for promotion to Professor

An Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer (universitetslektor) on a permanent contract may be provided with the opportunity, upon application, of being considered for promotion to Professor as permitted by the needs and circumstances of the university. 

Based on documentation presented by the faculty, the vice-chancellor determines whether a particular application may be assessed. Any such assessment shall proceed from the qualifications and assessment criteria for an appointment as Professor. Completion of supervisor training or the equivalent is a requirement for promotion to Professor.

Application for promotion from universitetsadjunkt (University Lecturer) to universitetslektor (Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor)

University Lecturers on open-ended contracts as of 31 March 2018 who hold a doctorate have the right, upon application, of being considered for promotion to Senior Lecturer if the qualification requirement for the appointment as Senior Lecturer has been met. 

Anyone appointed a University Lecturer on a permanent contract on or after 1 April 2018 may be provided with the opportunity, upon application, of being considered for promotion to Senior Lecturer if the qualification requirements for the appointment as Senior Lecturer has been met and as permitted by the needs and circumstances of the university. The Dean determines in each case if an assessment is justified.

Application to be appointed as Docent

The Faculty of Science and Technology admit teachers and researchers as Docent if it is deemed useful for research and education within the faculty. Holders of a Docent-ship have both scientific and pedagogical competence with a close connection to one of the departments at the faculty.
