Termination of employment

Employment at Umeå University may be terminated due to a number of reasons.

You can resign, or your employer can terminate your employment:

  • due to work shortage
  • for personal reasons
  • because you are being dismissed

Other reasons for termination of employment may be as follows:

  •  You reach the end of your fixed-term employment
  • You reach retirement age
  • You receive full sickness benefit
  • Due to death.

The notice periods applicable to you are dependent on your form of employment, the reason for termination of your employment and how long you have been a state employee. You must always have the opportunity to have an exit interview with your line manager before your employment is terminated.
