Graphic elements are the decorative components of our visual identity that can be used to create recognition, clarify a message or lighten up the layout.

Profile artwork

The artwork "Abstract 2" by Australian artist Jack Vanzet was introduced as part of the University's visual identity during Umeå University's 50th anniversary and can be interpreted as a modern-day aurora borealis.

The University's profile colours are taken from the artwork.

The artwork can be freely used by Umeå University as a decorative element that serves as an identifier of the University. The artwork can be used in its entirety or cropped.

Examples of use of the profile artwork

Symbols

Symbols can be used in both printed and digital communication to lighten up the layout and clarify the message. Symbols can also form the basis for simple illustrations. Umeå University uses the symbol library Entypo.
