Umeå University owns a farm in Västerbotten in Norrmjöle, 20 kilometres south of Umeå, which staff are able to rent for recreational purposes. Here you can swim in the sea at Bettnesand, Norrmjöle or Skaten and play golf or tennis in Norrmjöle.

The farm has two houses: one larger house and a smaller farmhouse. The larger house has eight beds and a cot, while the small farmhouse has four beds and a cot. The houses are fully furnished and equipped with a microwave, oven, fridge and freezer, for example. Neither house has a television. The rent does not include bed linen, towels or toiletries and you as the tenant must therefore provide these. You should clean the houses on vacating them. Cleaning equipment is provided.

The houses can be rented from late May to early October. The houses are rented separately for a week or a weekend. The rent varies during the season:

  • 21 May to 11 June: SEK 3,500 per house per week
  • 11 June to 13 August: SEK 4,200 per house per week
  • 13 August to early October: SEK 3,500 per house per week
  • Friday–Sunday night, from late May to early October: SEK 2,400 per house.

Payment is made by salary deduction.

To apply to rent

To apply to rent one of the houses, please complete the Application for Norrmjöle holiday accommodation form and send it to Carina Sehlstedt at the Building Office.
