Description: Applies when the employee moves to a new address, this leave can be granted several times per calendar year.

Relocation allowence - if granted


Decision: If relocation allowance is provided, the agreement gives the right to leave without salary deduction
for a maximum of 3 days.

Description:
Conditions for relocation allowance


An employee who changes workplace within the country is entitled to relocation allowance:

  • if the change of workplace takes place without the employee's own wish
  • if the change of workplace is due to the employee moving to an organizationally higher position with the employer or within the authority area or
  • if the employer considers that there are special reasons to pay relocation allowance.

However, relocation compensation is only provided to those who are covered by our collective agreement both before and after the change of workplace. Place of work refers to the place that is the employee's usual place of business.

Special reasons
The employer may decide that an employee should receive relocation allowance or travel allowance in cases
other than those specified in the agreement, if the employer considers that there are special reasons.

Trade union representative assignment, central assignment

Decision: Leave must be granted

Description: Applies to central assignment as trade union representative.

Trade union representative assignment or central assignment gives you the right to leave without salary deduction for a maximum of 10 working days per calendar year.

Trade union representative assignment or central assignment refers to central, regional or local employee organizations that are specified in the organization's statutes and received by the employee through election or recorded decision.

Trade union representative assignment or central assignment does not apply according to our collective agreement to leave relating to trade union activities at one's own workplace or any other workplace for the person who is a union shop steward. In such a case, the agreement on trade union representatives applies instead.

Trade union representative assignments or central assignments involve assignments as chairman, secretary, treasurer or other member of the board of a central employee organization, union, department, section, club or other part of a union, assignments as a representative at a congress, board of representative or similar, or as an auditor.

Trade union representative assignment or central assignment only applies when the employee performs the exact function that the assignment refers to, for example as chairman of the board's meetings. The employee is expected to prove the need for the leave, for example by showing the meeting notice.

Visit´s for accompanying partner at the maternity care centre

Decision: Leave must be granted

Description: If necessary, an employee who is about to become a parent, but is not pregnant,
may take time off without salary deduction on two occasions per pregnancy to accompany a visit to the
maternity care center.

Please notice:
This provision does not apply from the sixtieth day before the estimated time of the child's birth until the day
of delivery, as parental allowance can then be paid according to the Social Insurance Code (SFB).

Leave due to family matters, Släktangelägenhet

Description: Gives the right to leave without salary deduction for a maximum of 10 working days per calendar year.

Leave due to family matters, or Släktangelägenhet in Swedish, gives the employee the right to leave without salary deduction for a maximum of 10 working days per calendar year.

According to our collective agreement, the employee can use these 10 days in the below situations:

  • In case of more serious illness (this refers to vigil at the deathbed or such acute illness that inevitable requires intervention by the employee).
  • Death
  • Funeral
  • Estate inventory proceedings or distribution of an estate. In addition to the relationship to the deceased it is required that you are also a co-owner of the deceased´s estate.

This leave applies only to family or close relatives.

The employee cannot use this leave in the below situations:

  • Grieving for death
  • Funeral planning
  • Care of housing
  • Funeral of close friend
  • Helping a close relative move
  • Going with relative to the doctor
  • Visiting av close relative to help adjust their home, medical healthcare team etc

For the occasions stated above, other leave can be granted such as vacation, leave without pay, withdrawal of any accrued comp time or flex time.

The law - Right to leave for urgent family reasons
According to the Act (1998:209) on the right to leave for pressing family reasons, an employee "has the right to leave from his employment due to pressing family reasons which are connected with illness or accident and which make the employee's immediate presence absolutely necessary" (I§).

The law above only regulates the right to leave with salary deduction.

In the case of more serious illness, death and burial the closest family members are counted:

  • Husband, wife, common-law partner or registered partner
  • Children, grandchildren, or bonus children
  • Parents, foster parents, in-laws, or grandparents
  • Siblings, half-siblings, or bonus siblings

Leave for funerals, probate or inheritance also applies to:

  • Uncle, aunt
  • Nieces and nephews
  • Son-in-law, daughter-in-law,
  • Brother-in-law, sister-in-law

Application of number of days without salary deduction
The application of leave with pay for family matters at Umeå University is based on our Collective agreements text and advice, part of previous agreements that are still guiding for government authorities, as well as advice from the Employers' Agency via documents, training and individual advice.

Consideration must be given to time spent on the matter as well as any travel that must be made during working hours. Leave is granted one day for the matter and possibly one day for travel time for longer distances.

Doctors visits and in some cases Dentist visits

Description:

If necessary, an employee may take time off without salary deduction for doctor's or dentist's visits, etc.
in the following cases:

  • doctor connected to the high-cost cover
  • occupational health care
  • outpatient care (outpatient care/day care for non-inpatients can be provided, for example, at health centres, by social services and hospital wards.)
  • maternity care center
  • blood donation
  • examinations or treatments, within the high-cost cover, by dentists or doctors and in case of acute dental problems.

Advice in the terms and conditions agreement to chapter 9 § 1 Leave without salary deduction.

Leave according to this paragraph is granted on the condition that the doctor's visit (equivalent) needs to be done during working hours.

For example:

  • An employee who is part-time on sick leave is prescribed physiotherapy. The visits to the physiotherapist should be arranged during non- working hours firstly. If this is not possible, then this is applicable.
  • A visit to occupational health care, outpatient care or a maternity center does not only mean a visit to a doctor, but also, for example, a district nurse, physiotherapist, counselor, or midwife.
